Do Something Even If It’s Wrong
You ever get stuck in a rut? It’s easy to do, especially when life doesn’t go our way. Easier even the less and less life goes our way. But for me, the very worst thing I can do when my mental health, my energy, my aura, my chi gets misaligned and everything just seems out of synch, the worst thing I can do is nothing.
I needed a new anthem for when I feel stuck. I’m not feeling that way right meow, but in the past weeks I’ve had to rally my way through some ick. Here’s a new one for me, and for those that need it.
Do Something Even If It’s Wrong
burn the sage
say your prayers on time every day
take an extra vitamin
call a therapist
call a friend
craft a voodoo doll of yourself
and scratch your own ass
join a cult
shave your head
disown your parents
disavow god
before god disavows you
plot escape routes
and pretend they’re daydreams
paint the road in front of your house purple
who says you can’t?
consider the pros and cons of arson if you must
settle for guerrilla acts of
random vandalism if you can
to scratch your felony desires to
burn it all to the motherfucking ground already
change your meds for the 17th time in
12 years
blast some music until the windows
in your head rattle
either double your sugar intake or
give it up entirely
light candles and incense
light joints pipes and cee-gars
light torches and molotov cocktails
light it all until you see clearly in the dark
a bump on a log ain’t a leaf on a tree
learn to look at your lack of roots as a blessing
the tumbleweed lives a short life
and is dead by the time it gets moving
but we don’t have to wait that long
it takes at least six strong people
to carry a casket to the grave
less
if we meet death halfway
seems silly
to keep sitting
when we can stand
the sky itself
provides a map and compass
if you lift your head
and measure your next steps
no matter who
or who isn’t there
to help us tie our shoes
only two people can take your journey-
you and only you-
swallow pride
spit fire
do something
even if it’s wrong
