A new poem that I posted on my Patreon last Sunday. It’s as good a Sunday poem as I’ve written in a while.
May Sunday. South Toledo.
the weather is happy finally
lawnmowers drone like background music
warplanes from the local Air Force base shake the morning houses
awake from weekend stupor
children squeal and tattle
outdoors all day long
dogs bark like they’re participants
in a Sunday chorus
that’s probably more holy
than you’ll find in any church hall
an ice cream truck circles
the neighborhood blasting
clown music
sirens chirp from
the main roads nearby
the sun is loud and consistent
backyard music drifts by
on a southwest breeze
weedwhackers howl
people laugh
May Sunday
South Toledo
church is here
can you hear it?
can you hear it?

Recently came across my old guitar. It’s a nice Yamaha with a bad hole in the back of the body that I covered with a Hayes Carl sticker. Gonna try to restring her, and play around writing poems with a guitar in my lap. See how it goes. If nothing else, maybe I can learn a Johnny Cash song.
Write on Dan!
