Fuck, man. The problem with writing this every Monday update is that Mondays keep showing up faster every week, and here we are, at another one, and I’m still working on some writer projects from three Mondays ago. As another Hoosier born writer once famously wrote: So it goes.
Last week I worked on some articles that I have to get wrapped up still. I finished a few poems, got invited to a big future reading and sent manuscripts of my published books off to Kosovo to be translated into Albanian.
The week ahead looks jammed with more work than I can accomplish in the next three as well. Got a lot of painting and work on my camper to get done, and a shit ton of writing to do. I still haven’t worked on my website. Still have bookstores to follow up with, future readings to set up, and more books to write.
I’ll send in an article for my online column “Sweat Stained Review” that’s supposed to be weekly on A Thin Slice of Anxiety. It’s been monthly thus far in 2024, but Editor Cody Sexton and the crew over there are so patient and good to me that I keep at it. And the slower columns ain’t half bad yet. You know me. I ain’t ever phoned in a writing project on autopilot. Not all my writing is good, but most of it has heart. Problem is I still don’t always have enough time to write. Suppose there never will be. But that new column should be out in the next few days. I do hope you’ll find it and dig it.
The only public appearance planned this week is on Friday March 22nd when I’ll be at the Toledo City Paper’s Best of Toledo Awards party. I’ll get my actual award for being voted as best writer/author. The event is held at the Toledo Club. You know there’ll be a story or two after.
Looking ahead to April
Thursday April 11th I’ll be reading in Toledo at the new Wandering Bean Coffee Co. on west Sylvania. That’s at 6 and the event is hosted by Lucas County Poet Laureate Jonie McIntire, and features John Amen, Timothy Geiger, Me, and One Single Rose.
I’ll be on Tour with other artists in the “Not Suitable for American Television” Tour for four days
Thursday April 18th in Kansas City, MO
Friday April 19th in Indianapolis
Saturday April 20th in Toledo
Sunday April 21st in St. Louis
Saturday April 27th I’ll be reading at the Bard & Busker Fest in Owensboro, KY with 20 other poets and three bands. The event is headlined by International Beat Poet Laureate, lifetime emeritus Ron Whitehead and is hosted by publisher Laughing Ronin Press and writer/editors Joseph Fulkerson and Chelsea Rector.
In the early planning stages of planning readings out west in late October/early November.

A reminder to be as kind as possible to our fellow villagers, but don’t take any shit. I try to be good to all workers, no matter their rank from gas station janitor to hotel clerk, restaurant server to garbage truck driver. But if you’re discourteous you’ll either watch my ass walking away, or get yours kicked standing if you don’t let me. Between, you and me, between the tree and Buddha, my conscience is clear either way.
Namaste knuckleheads. Hugs and weed nugs. Whatever it takes to make it through another week.
Me reading in Portsmouth, OH last Friday
There was fire poetry in Portsmouth, and poetry on fire.
Funniest meme I saw all week.
My books on the “free to borrow” shelf at Wandering Bean Coffee Co.
You're busy as shit! I'm going to try and make it to The Wandering Bean reading. Good luck on the road!
